I first encountered Festool in a client's basement. I was repairing broken stair balusters with my DeWauKita tools, and at some point for some reason, Mrs Client (delightful serial remodeler God bless her,) offered me the use of her husband's table saw. Dr Client, a brain surgeon, had his shop behind a door I'd never had occasion to open. I went downstairs, opened the door, and there behind a gleaming Unisaw/Biesemeyer was the now-storied Wall of Beige. The Dr's shop was so pristine I closed the door, backed away, and went back to the garage to use my Makita.
Years later, my partner and I decided to get new vacuums. I can't remember why, but he got a CT22 (?) while I got a Fein Turbo II. They were both a huge improvement over our generic shopvacs. The Festool was nice but we both ended up liking the Fein more. Longer hose, less loud, no bags...
Working on a third story bookcase job in 2019, I got tired of hauling the Tubbo up and down and went looking for something lighter. At this point I was a (mostly,) Bosch (12v & 14v) guy with a cart of L-Boxxes. My first track saw (Makita) had come in a Classic Sys and I was intrigued. At the board store, where they had their own WoB, I decided to abandon Boxxes and go all in on T-locs. I bought a CT SYS, a cart, and a couple of empty Systainers. FUSA says I held out for another year before getting an HKC and EC125.
