I have used my Carvex with smaller 75mm blades and not had any issues. I had to cut through some 4x6 PT (not soaking wet) and bought some 145 blades this week. Got to test it out today and within the first inch I smelled smoking and the back of the blade is charred and rubbed off on the back edges.

I was pushing it hard, it isn't soaking wet PT, do I have the support arm too close?  I was surprised as I have had a fond experience so far with my 420.

That's the classic result of not setting the blade guides like Peter indicated.  Even if you have the same type of blades, they may have different thicknesses. For example, the same blade model is thicker if it is labeled 'Carvex' vs the 'Trion' labeled blade.

Thanks guys. I figured it was the case. After dinner I checked the old blade and I thought it was a Carvex (thicker) blade, but it wasn't. It was just the same color pattern.

Live and learn.
