I have a Franklin Sensors 710 and it works great.

I've drilled enough holes into the vacuum of space to recognize that my current studfinder is not exactly fully up to snuff. The money I've spent on patching putty would probably be much better spent on a really good Studfinder.
What are you guys using, and what do you think is the best? (like Festool quality best)

That's been my way. I bought a stud finder once, used it once. the next time I needed it, the battery was dead so i had to go back to the old method of knuckle drill.
