when will the TS55 return ?

Hi Michael.  Welcome to the FOG!

The potential / pending / forthcoming / anticipated recall is for TS-55-REQ saws in North America.

Based on your profile I don't believe you will be affected by the recall  [big grin].

Sorry if im a bit behind the times here but i bought a TS55 about a month ago and have just stumbled across this thread. Should i be concerned? I have only used it a couple times and it seems ok. Is there a particular model no that was recalled?

Thanks
Michael

Any issue involves only 110v Festool TS55REQ manufactured for sale in North America. The TS55EQ is not involved, but was discontinued in North America at the same time the TS55REQ was released.

So, since you are in Oz, rest easy. None of the 230v TS55REQ are involved.

I don't think I have read anything from Festool that says the TS55R models sold outside of North America are free of the problem.

And then there was this post a few days ago in the "Venting" thread...

Slappy,

I you are in a hurry or have to have the latest and greatest then hold out for a REQ.

I have a EQ and had it for a few years now.

It does everything I need it to do.

IMO the upgrades  the REQ has are pretty kewl but are they substantial enough for me to sell my EQ to get one?

No thats why I didnt get one.

So depending on whether you have to have the latest should make your determination whether to buy the EQ and have it now or wait for the REQ

[eek],
If I'm dropping that amount of $$$ on a Festool track saw then I'm waiting on the REQ .

I'm a hobbyist, the up-grades are something I would want but do I need them ?  I don't know but do know I would regret Not getting them on new saw .

I just want to keep the thread  active  while we all  wait , seems if we stay away from certain talking points the thread will not be locked  [tongue]

Good luck finding a TS55EQ available in North America. For over a month I have been receiving unsolicited offers to buy any TS55EQ surplus to my needs.

I did buy 2 new TS55REQ. One was never removed from its T-Loc, but both were returned to Festool USA to be repaired or replaced when that was possible. I already own more than enough TS75. I bought the TS55REQ so everyone working for me could have a chance to use them. By the way, the one we did use worked perfectly.

A very quick search turned up Bob Marino and CPO Outlets still have brand new TS 55EQ saws available, for those that need one!

I bought a TS 55 EQ a few weeks ago from CPO.  I was also waiting for the R but gave in.  I love this saw!

I think if I knew that the R would be back on the shelves at a certain venture, I would have held out (as long as it wasn't Christmas).  I am glad I didn't, I think the only thing I really wish i had was the dual depth marker (on and off the rail) but I bought one of the aftermarket scales and reset mine to include the 5mm for my track.  Honestly, there would be a 1% chance i run it off the track so the $6.00 was well worth it!

cheers

Yeah, that's where I'm at too.  As someone else mentioned the gauge which includes the rail thickness would probably be the most significant of the new features to me as well, but considering that I never bothered to introduce any of the obvious fixes to the EQ... it clearly isn't that important...  :)

My two cents. I just purchased the old 55 from CPO.  couldn't be happier.  Really thought about waiting and I just felt that this saw would do it for me based on the updates the REQ has. No regrets
