If you're in a production environment, that kind of machinery makes a ton of sense and is financially viable, but if you're not in the business, it's just not a good solution. Guido Henn's shop-made jigs are very clever and make the routing a piece of cake. While this kind of connector makes installation of the fixings a piece of cake, the end product looks like it came from Ikea because the fixings are visible. For a garage, why not try it? You can certainly keep and reuse the jigs on other projects. I really do like his use of a PT ladder base for the cabinets.
