Which Festool blades do you mainly use on a TS55?

Forrest blades makes a great no melt blade for the TS55 for your plexi cutting. They also make several blades for the TS75 and Kapex, excellent blades made here in the USA.

Plus 1 for Forrest blades, I have a Forrest King Dado set, and several thin kerf and regular kerf Forrest blades and I have been extremely pleased with the results.

Now knowing that the kerf is the same,   which blade for ripping only is better    standard or panther??

The Standard Blade for the TS 55 was discontinued when the blades were standardized at 2.2mm kerf years ago. The typo' is that there still exists a Standard Blade other than possibly old stock.

At the time that the Panther was redesigned to have the same 2.2mm kerf as the other blades, the Panther Blade design changed considerably and the Standard Blade was eliminated from the line up. Take a look at the shape of the two blades above.

I see the new version has those little expansion slot (?) thingies too.

I have never had anything in the TS55 except the blade that it came with although I have replaced it once after cutting a bunch of jambs down on 30 new windows with the wrong jamb size.  Cutting that many pin nails finally took its toll.

That said the only time the blade was lacking was trying to rip a bunch of treated 2x4s down when I didn't have access to any other saw.

I have always been amazed at what the blade will do.

Thanks for the accurate info Tom, one would think that they would have the catalog sorted out and the correct dimensions and items listed

I also expect to leave the 48t blade on it most of the time.. the ts will mostly be reserved for finish work, however, doing remodeling i know there is going to be a time that i have to cut up some framing lumber, treated lumber or similar and i dont want to trash my finish blade on that stuff

I have four different blades for the the TS 55. Once you use them for what they where engineered for you realize it makes a big difference in the quality of the cut. I would be like using Rubin sandpaper for all of your projects.

Well, after a year of use I have ended up using only the 48 tooth standard blade that came with the saw and the panther blade I bought for rips is still happily in the systainer untouched waiting for that giant ripping project to come.

I've ripped a bunch of pressure treated 2x4's with the standard blade just fine - just slow the feed rate a bit and one does not need to change blades for the occasional rip cut. I would probably swap the blade to the panther one though if I knew I'd be ripping through a batch of rip cuts in 2x material tough.

I would now also get a laminate blade if I were to make laminate flooring since it really chews a normal blade up (as experienced by my neighbour).

Once the current fine tooth blade goes dull I'll probably try the universal blade mentioned in this thread multiple times.

And yes I'm still watching  [eek][tongue]

I use the 48 all the time and last week I got a general blade and I am very pleased with it
I used it to cut down some veneered fire doors and it gave a very nice clean cut

Now I just got my TS55R last week, so my experience is rather limited, but I was shocked at how well the standard blade cut.  It made perfect splinter freecuts in cherry ply and worked great crosscutting and ripping down a solid cherry panel glue up.  At this point, I can't seem to find a reason to get another blade and I'm always looking for a good reason to buy more tools.  LOL    I couldn't be happier with the saw or the blade.

I recently replied to a post regarding a new members question about the cut results on he's new ts55r ,sure enough he was using the wrong blade for that particular application I pointed him in the right direction and as a result the member bought the panther blade and was very happy about that , i am a firm believer in using the correct blade for the job it's that simple i also posted the blade numbers for the ts 55. green.

Anyone who thinks the TS55 is underpowered when ripping hardwoods hasn't tried a panther blade. I cut through 2" walnut like a hot knife through butter today.

Can't believe I've gone without the panther blade for so long till now.
