Which router

Peter, how do you find the additional weight?

Just looked at the specs on both Routers and the 2200 comes in at 11.7kg..........compared with 5.1kg for the 625.

I can imagine the additional weight would aid in stability, but as the majority of the routing that I do on a day by day basis is stop/ start worktop machining etc, I would think constantly picking up and putting down 11.7 kg is going to be a PITA! when compared with the 625.

How does it compare with the OF2000? I have one that I was given, but it has a slightly deformed baseplate (It's been dropped I reckon....!!!!), so I have not used it other than turning it on to see if it ran. IT does feel top heavy compared with the DW625.

The 2200 is not light and if you are having to do loads of short cuts then you really should consider the 1400 - it takes all the collet sizes, including 1/2" and has bags of power. The 2200 has the best dust extraction of any router that I have used (in my life). The chap who had a play with my 2200 had the old 2000 machine and they are quite different - I seem to recall that the 2000 was a little top heavy.

My Dewalt is okay up to a point but it can vibrate a little (done that from new) and it is the same with my CMT (identical machine made in the same factory). I have been told it is the lower quality bearings. But, I could not fit my OF2200 in my UJK router table and am using the DW625. It works well there.

I use all 3 festool routers for my work but the main  2 are the 1400 for general hand work and the 2200 under the CMS with router table as a fully set up spindle moulder just to make it a little easier for my needs. the 1010 I use for detail  work or hole boring, other than that, all 3 are amazing and wouldn't have anything other than festool routers. thinking of a festool laminate trimer for tear out cleaning or edge softening without bringing out the big girls lol.
