Which sander(s) for the job?

Gentleman,

I would appreciate any thoughts on which sanders would work best for sanding down stair treads with a bluenose edge. The treads are oak and are in decent shape. The homeowners want to stain them a much darker color. Anyways, I own a RO125 and CT33. I know the RO125 will work great on this task. I am wondering what sander I should purchase to sand the corners of the treads the RO125 will not reach.
I also would like to know your opinions on the LS 130. Would this work well to strip the bluenose edge on tread?

The Rotex sanders are the perfect tool for stair treads. For the corners the Deltex is the tool that comes to mind. Its an aggressive sander that will remove the finish fast. I know some other guys will chime in, they'll have something to add. Good luck.

Hi,

        I would think that the LS130 with the Radius 10 or Radius 25 pad would be ideal for the "bluenose" (bullnose?) edge. You would need to start with an aggressive grit , probably Cristal 40 or 60 and work your way through several grits.  See this LS 130 Review  thread for a bunch of info on that sander.
