never give up my pin Domino...

To create the mortices in the end and edge of the 1x4's I used my pin headed [eek] Domino.

The later model Domino Support Bracket with the push out stops was used to place the mortice closest to the edge/end, the pin was inserted into the first mortice and the second mortice was plunged.

Can't do this with my paddle head Domino.

Yes I love my pins, I thought about selling it after I got the 700.
But I also keep thinking the pins are the way to go

Or get a 700 XL and adapters for smaller bits. I love mine and use it with 5 or 6 mm dominos all the time. I even have extra pins!!  ;^)

Cheers. Bryan.

I have 2-500's and a 700.

Translation:

the fence with the pins is no longer available for sale from the parts dept.

Another thing I've done with my pin-style head is to set a divider at 39mm to mark the center point where the domi is to go, and the two points where the pins will be.  Then I use a 5mm brad-point bit to put two shallow holes in the piece.  Plug the pins in to the holes and you're ready to bore a domi slot right where you want it.

Just curious guys...can the paddle 500 be changed to a pin 500?

Hi Cheese,

From what I understand, the heads are interchangeable, so a used pin-style head will fit on a machine that came with the paddle-style head.  Hope this helps.

No, and the pin style is no longer serviceable.

Tom

I thought in one if the other threads this came up, and the response from Festool was that the pinned model WAS still serviceable.

As I read it you'll get service for the pin type version (they have spare parts), but they don't sell the pin type fence so you can't convert a paddle type version.

My comment was based on information I was told from when the problem first arose.
