Will Festool cyclone strip the benefit of a 36mm hose?

Sorry if this is a dumb question – but having recently upgraded my CTL 26 with a 36 mm hose, I am now also looking to put a cyclone inline.

However, I understand that the fetstool cyclone comes with a 27 mm hose and 27 mm connector back to the vac.

Will this reduced hose size  effectively cut down the additional suction that I have received from implementing the 36 mm hose – added of course to the reduction in section presented by a cyclone itself?

The Festool separator comes with a 36mm hose. Havi g said that, yes, there will be a flow reduction from the two 90⁰ fittings on each end of the hose plus the action of the separator itself. How much efficiency exactly I'm not too sure.

Are you filling the bags on the CT26 regularly? If not, you might be better off without the separator?

I suppose that’s the interesting question. At my current rate of use, it would take me nearly six years to spend as much on bags as the cyclone costs ... I have a separate 4 inch vac for my heavy chip thicknesseser etc.

The Festool cyclone will reduce suction considerably. I find that just mounting a cheap dust commander on top of the plastic lid that comes with the Festool Cyclone performs better and reduces suction by a lesser degree. If only they sold the bottom part of the Cyclone that mounts on the CT separately.

I used to use a Dust Deputy type cyclone specifically when using my thickness planer.
Simply because my CT17 only has 17L capacity and no long life bags and connected directly it filled up rapidly but was the best suction.
Where I live finding adapters was almost impossible so I tried a 4" inch hose but with the cyclone there was a significant drop-off.

Changed to the CT-VA for convenience because it all fits without the need of finding fittings and adapters.
I use it next to my CT17.

Using the 36mm hose with my Kapex, I haven't noticed any drop-off or difference to be honest.
Using the 27mm hose with ets125/150 ec and the dust extraction is as good as ever.
Added a 50mm hose for use with the planer and I noticed a difference there, not as good as 36mm direct to planer (haven't tried 50mm direct) but better then 4" via old cyclone and it also fits Dewalt table saw.

Is it losing some suction, probably. Is it catching the larger parts, there is debris in the collection bag. My vac bag was already 1/3rd full and I wasn't going to waste it to see "how full the bag gets" with the CT but it doesn't appear to getting significantly bigger with the CT-VA in the mix.

For me it works for my needs. My only other alternative would have been a CT26 which would have cost me 2x the price of the CT-VA and then the longlife bag would have to be bought too. And the CT26 only gives me an additional 200l/min in airflow.
Or a small low pressure 4" chip collector which I don't have space for.
