Will festool ever release an 18v impact driver

I'm from the UK and I've never owned an impact. I hate them, though it seems I'm the only one. It's the noise I can't bare.

REALLY REALLY hoping festool have made a quiet one.  But after many years of using drills I am starting to get problems in my forearms from driving big screws with a drill. So either way I'll probably be buying it the next time a big screw type job comes up. God I hope it's a quiet (ish) one.

Does anyone know if the quiet impact drivers from other manufacturers were up to snuff? ie: not breaking early etc etc?  Guess I'll find out soon either way.

I have the Milwaukee M18 surge impact and it is very quiet compared to the earlier versions.  I work with steel and aluminum primarily so an impact is necessary.  I will probably get sucked into yet another Festool when they release theirs.  I have Milwaukee, Fein and Festool equipment, but the Festool drills are definitely smoother then the rest in use.

FWIW...one of the questions in the Festool impact survey that they conducted about 2 years ago was " Do you prefer a hydraulic driven impact or a conventional mechanical driven impact?"  Or something to that effect.  [smile]

I'd love an impact. Finally took the Fes 18v plunge with the PDC and it frankly baffles me. @ torq setting of 12 it wouldn't fully drive 2" #18 door screws into fir 2X material, one click to the drill setting and it almost broke my wrist.

Could be me, I may have to break down and read the directions.

I overheard a conversation at Connect that they are coming out with a 18V impact.

Festool Roadshow wandered through South Louisiana in November, and they confirmed an impact available sometime in the spring.

I can report similar from Germany: impact and angle grinder (both cordless) have been mentioned by staff to be coming early 2019.

I think it was expected this year, but didn’t happen so I’m anticipating it next year. Hoping it will be quiet! I, too, dislike the noisy versions.

I remember Makita made one that was supposed to be quiet, but I never heard anything about it aside from their marketing.

I was recently told by a Festool rep that in the UK we should see it April 2020.
