I have been in the market for a moulding machine and see the William and Hussey or it looks like Shopfox makes a replica. Do any member have one of these machines and what are your pros and cons. Only cons I have heard is new knives are pricey but this would be expected for something custom. Thanks for looking.

I've owned a W&H for many years. I really like it, does what it supposed to do.  Highly recommend the variable speed and multi pass options.

Another area cabinet maker has a W & H molder. He has had it several years & loves it.
I have had a 18" Woodmaster planer/molder for many years & I love it. I only use it as a molder.
I have had the Woodmaster for over 25 years. I looked into the W & H molder when I was in the market for a molder, but I do not remember why I went with the Woodmaster.

W&H moulders are the gold standard. Shop fox, Grizzly, and other Chinese brands are mostly combo planer/moulders that can't do curved work and have problems getting knives in alignment. If you intend to run a lot of moulding, you will be happiest with the W&H. It does one thing and it does it well.

I was pretty sure the shop fox did curved moldings. Do they make alot of standard knives for the shopfox. I know you can order custom but wasn't sure if they sold standard profiles, I will have to research this more. Thank you everyone for all of the responses.

Yes, the William and Hussey knives will work. There are several companies out there that make quality knives as good if not better and at a better price.
