Hi All,

I'm a new woodworker and aspiring DIY'er, I have recently discovered that our second story window has LOTS of water damage, causing wood rot when I tried to kill and and on the wall under the window and my finger went through the sheet rock!

I'm not quite confident enough in my capability to take this on, and don't have the equipment if I need to do anything on the outside.  I know the answer is likely going to be "depends" for my question, but what has been your guys' experience on this type of work?

Thanks,

Oscar

If your finger is going through the drywall then you have some real rot issue's. your framing sill and cripple studs are probably rotted as well. Sorry to say but it need to be opened up and find out how bad the damage is and get it fixed asap, before it does anymore damage to the rest of your home. p.s. you should check the rest of your house to make sure your not getting water penetration any ware else.
