Hi Guys

can anyone that has a woodpeckers framing square check the to see if the 2 metal silver rods that align the square are flush to the surface of the square.

I just recieved my 660mm square from the latest run and on one side they are sitting high by 1mm

Cheers

Bryan

My framing square from Woodpeckers is the same. One side pins are flush, one side pins are high. I noticed it when I received it in March. thought is was odd, but I haven't contacted them to understand why.

Just checked mine - both in the set have a slight rise, as well as my several year old 1281 square.

Must just be a part of the manufacturing process.

Considering the 26", but $40 for the case - one expensive piece of MDF... https://www.woodpeck.com/psq2018.html
Yea dont bother with the MDF board. Waste of money and takes up too much space to store it. Also check out ordering Woodpeckers tools from CarbideProcessors.com and use the code "creekers" to save 10%. Buying directly from Woodpeckers is never the best price no matter what they're selling.

Arg, just ordered the coping sled yesterday. At least it was on sale and included the larger template that I do need.

I also ordered the 26" square. I finally realized I had no measurement tools that were actually square and I've filled in the smaller sizes with some Starrett combination and machinists squares, but I want one big square I know is correct. Big Starretts are $500 and up, so $229 doesn't seem all that bad.

Anyone know if these will accept the stops/gauges for laying out stringers?  The small brass kind...  The WP seems to be a bit thicker than a usual framing square.

It is pretty easy to make a holder out of MDF or whatever material you want. I bought a used 670mm square that came with the board, and modified it to fit my 26" square very easily with a router and a track, but I did have to add material onto the end. Wouldn't be hard to just make one from scratch. After all that is why we have tools isn't it?

You would need to buy some sort of device to make sure the cutout for the square was at the correct 90 degree angle.  [big grin]
