Any thoughts on which one/ones to get?  I plan to get them to square up an MFT and general marking as well as squaring up cabinet boxes.

I'm tempted to buy both but then it would have to be snuck out to the shop before my better half saw the receipt.

I mastered the art of getting all my tool purchases past my wife, when I first started buying Festool.  I even go as far as buying from companies that ship using Fed Ex (or USPS), because they show up in my area early afternoon, as opposed to UPS, who tends to come later in the day, after my wife gets home.

I also take all my shipping boxes to the recycle center before she can spot them, which helps avoid unwanted conversations.  And, as we all know, with Woodpecker, if she does happen to see it, my standard answer is "oh, I ordered that 6 months ago, and it has just now arrived".

Of course, as my final backup explanation, twice a year I get a free pass by simply calling the item a Birthday or Christmas present for my son....

My advice, get them both.  You will never regret it!

I have a dumb question -- how is this OTT square better at laying out sheet goods than the 32" T-square?

A lot of people praise the 26" square, what advantages does it have over, say, a regular WP 12" square? Sure, the OTT tool is longer, but I'm failing at imagining a scenario where extra length would be that much more useful, considering the price difference.

Personally I think you're right.  The T-square is way better for layout.  Being larger, the 26" square just gives you more accurate squaring than the 12" over longer distances.  That's basically it.  How important that is for your work is up to you...

I use the 26" constantly.  You cannot use the tee squares, which i also have for layouts, to check square for your rails.  I cut expensive plastics regularly and need every cut to be dead square.  Having recently purchasing the TSO GRS-16 PE, which is outstanding, I still check that my 48 and 60 inch crosscuts are dead on by suing the square on the cutting side of rail.  I do not judge my cut by the splinter strip but instead square by the aluminum edge.

So do you find that the guide rail square isn't as accurate as using the woodpecker square? Trying to decide about getting the 18" one  and a guide rail square or just skip the guide rail square and get the 26" square to set up the track
