Woodpeckers Precision Framing Squares

I think the best bet is for everyone who wants one to use the form on Woodpeckers's website to request this item(FYI Aug 2013). That way your request will be counted with all the other requests and you can be sure it will come to the attention of the proper person. Seems silly to attempt to make and end run around the mechanism that Woodpeckers has already in place for precisely this purpose.

I'd like to see a Woodpeckers x FOG collaboration square, anodized blue and painted green or something.  [eek]

I have the largest one in Metric, 670mm I think it is called.
I have a 1281 in Imperial and another in Metric.
I just picked up the 150mm & 200mm set.

I'd probably pick up the 18" as well but probably in Metric.

I think the Woodpeckers squares are some of my most used tools. Only similar items that come close are my PEC 4" AND 6" Double Squares, where a couple of each are sometimes not enough.

Woodpeckers should keep the 26"/670mm in stock as well as the 1281. It is the single most requested One Time Tool that people want in between runs.

FWIW I have Starrett 2024 Squares at work and much prefer the Woodpecker 26"/670mm for woodworking. The Starratt is a nasty weapon that needs to stay in its case so it doesn't hurt anyone or itself in use and they are silly expensive, $1000+ currently.

I have thought a beveled edge would be nice too. But then you can only use it from one direction. I also like to be able to push other straight edges up tight against it. That would be much more difficult with the beveled edge.  EX- When squaring the 48" direction on sheet goods I use the 26" square with the 48" SERX pushed up against the square. Extending it to a 48" square.

I agree completely with Seth. The beveled edge is great on the TS-600 Tee Square but is not appropriate for the big square at all.

FWIW, the Woodpecker Tee Squares are very useful but not usable to square up an MFT at all.

Tom is completely correct about a Chappell being a better FRAMING square but I think the Woodpecker is just named incorrectly. It isn't useful for actual framing. They didn't call it that when I bought one in the first run as I recall. Maybe looking for tool collectors rather than tool users. Seems they recently had another One Time Tool square that was misnamed badly.

Seems like it would still be usable with the beveled edge to me.  It would only be about half the thickness of the standard edge,  which is already quite thick.  Also, marking holes would still work regardless of whether or not the edge is beveled.

I already have the pair and use them often for squaring up guide rails, not inexpensive but has been well worth it in my book. I hope they come through soon for all of you who are interested. They'd sell plenty if these were regular stock items.

I'd get another one or two; currently have the 26" and 6"; might have another size but can't remember

Thanks guys for speaking up. At least we can see how many members here would like to own it. I'm sure this is just a small part of larger group of Woodpeckers clients. Personally I like to keep square without bevel but i like idea of mm and inch on one square. One thing I would like to see is a large hole in it that would hung it plumb on a dowel or domino for easy storage. I am down for 26'' or larger, 18'' and triangle. One more idea would be to add a magnets to its base like you can find on some Stabila levels. Please go to their web and request it if you haven't yet. Cheers.

I would be interested in the 18"/450mm triangle. I submitted my request to Woodpecker and suggested to have both metric and imperial on the tool.

What makes these squares more desirable than others?

I like this idea, perhaps, metric on one side and imperial on the other, IDK just a thought
