Okay guys. Need some advice on materials and finishes. I'm considering doing this and kinda want to kick around some idea's.

Here's a motor cycle trailer my uncle built...it's coated in mirror coat epoxy and top coated with Kem Aqua plus for UV protection.  all I did was the sanding and finishing.  it's black walnut and maple

I know the Ford Woodies were maple or birch, with maple being the most popular. Ford harvested the wood from their own forget in northern Michigan.

The Plymouth you posted a picture of appears to be mahogany and maple.

Those are great pictures.

Tom,  would you happen to know the thickness?  I have no guidelines and that picture was from a car (same model) in Australia.
 
The panels are 3/8-1/2", posts and beams are 3/4-7/8"

I believe there is a Woody club. They would be your best source.
