The time has come to make a bench, a workbench. After my B & D Workmate 2000 and MFTC, I want to do a carpenter's bench. Beautiful robust (at least 2 quintals) and exploit all the recovery material

[member=25893]zoki4691[/member] - very creative departure from the conventional approaches - thank you for sharing ere on the FOG!

I like the joint for the legs.  Dovetail plus straight tenon.  But I am wondering WHY?  You could just do a straight tenon.  Simpler, easier, and likely stronger too.  The workbench top has gravity pulling down onto the legs.  The legs cannot pull out.  The weight of the bench keeps it down on top of the legs.  And with a fully enclosed tenon on the leg end, it cannot go sideways either.  So other than the decorative effect, why?  Its weaker and not as good as a captured tenon on the end of a leg.  The side of the bench top should also be one long smooth board.  Your side is broken up by the dovetails.  Its not flat, straight, smooth.
