I have been doing work recently in dental surgeries during open hours
I made this work station so all my tools are off the floor and work surfaces
The construction is mainly birch ply, this was supposed to be a prototype but works and looked good enough that I will keep it.
The door and other sizes were just what I had around the workshop.
The only thing I bought was the combination lock.

The lid opens to reveal a tool trough. The lid is supported by the door.
[attachthumb=#]
The lock bolt engages with a hole in the top to stop it being accidentally moved
to stop the station toppling over I added a foot on some T track
[attachthumb=#]
The Trough is the height of my screw compartments so fixings can be left between rooms
[attachthumb=#]
The Aluminum the lock engages was drilled out to hold tools
[attachthumb=#]
I like being able to lock the unit as it saves spills in the van also I can leave the unit unattended during lunch
The side has a place for rails to go in
[attachthumb=#]
I used some proper case handles instead of just cut outs as its easer and safer taking it out the van, up and especially down stairs
I cut away as much as possible to reduce weight.
The draws have finger grooves on the top and bottom
[attachthumb=#]
The heavy boxes go to the bottom with in most cases an empty sys4 on top .
[attachthumb=#]
The sys4 gets any tools I need (drills, glue, block planes etc) the heavy boxes at the bottom keep the centre of gravity low.
What do you Fogers think should I just varnish or paint the unit ?
The overall height is lower then my cutting table so it can tuck away.
[attachthumb=#]
The hinges are T-nuted and cross dowel bolted for strength
[attachthumb=#]
Thanks for looking, be nice with feedback . [smile]
