Well, I finally put a worm chestnut flooring plank to good use.  It had been kicking around my garage for over four years.  Now if I can only get motivated to install the rest of the chestnut flooring as flooring...its just too pretty to walk on.

The first couple of pics is of the flooring plank, which is pretty knarly.  Was afraid to cut it, since it was so neat looking as is.

Then your typical dry fit pics, but notice the domino playing peekaboo.  I left it as is, it can barely been seen.  Other pics are close ups showing off the wood then finished product.

Used the ro125, and the domino!  I usually like to pocket screw frames too, but decided to let the domino do its job and not go overboard.  Fun little project, only now the Mrs. wants frames for everything now...

Where did you get the floor from?

Darcy,

You wont believe me.  I was on a job and the contractor overestimated how much of the flooring he needed for the house.  There were piles of flooring laying around helter-skelter for weeks, so I asked him what he was going to do with all of it, and can I have some of it...he says sure, take it all (over 450 sq ft) since he was going to have to pay someone to remove it anyway!  A true sign of how crazy things were a few years back.  Not all of the flooring.g looks this cool, but its still nice, although only 5/8" thick.

Chestnut is hard to come across.

I have some old floor joists and beam sections from my house and a couple others, stashed in the shop.

Love the wood man.

I agree, I love it too, and the smell...don't ask, I just do.  Did a large kitchen in downtown Charleston all out reclaimed chestnut years ago, will try to dig up some pics.  Spent hours with a metal detector and went through a ton of planer blade sharpenings though.
