My request is for a Y-switchable blast gate for dust collection hoses.  I'd like to have a 27 mm and 36 mm hose on my boom arm for using with different tools.  I'd need to switch between hoses.  I'd like to avoid having corks or blanking plugs, since those have a high chance of being lost.

OR

Make a decent 27mm to 36mm adapter to avoid this mickey mouse hose adapter thing people are making.  It works, but it is a real pain to use.

OR

Make a Plug-It cord pigtail that matches the length of the mickey mouse hose adapter.

You're in luck Kodi, festool just released the new Y-adapter you were looking for.  [poke]

Here is my setup of an Y adapter with 2 blast gates.
Looks like the one Alex suggested but mine is working!

Yes I really like the Protool version. I also have the Festool CTL26.
This 26 L Protool version has not been migrated to the Festool version, only the 36L version which I find too large and heavy to move around to the job-side.
But apart from the colour and some outer details the Protool and Festool versions are the same inside.

This version has all the bells and whistles. Such as dust class M, Autoclean, double AC outlets (1 auto, 1 permanent) and a systainer frame on top.
The 26 L version is really much smaller then the Festool version, because it has no hose storage on top. Instead it has a flat surface which is better for putting stuff on top.
I only miss the cable holder on the back but I will be putting one on soon because this can easily be bought separately (ET-BG) but only in Festool light-grey.

Only $145?

In The Netherlands it's $179,53.. and that's with a discount. Funny thing is, Germany is our neighbour...

Here is how I set mine up. Festool "Y" adapter and 2 blast gates. The 50mm hose on the bottom comes with the boom arm, 27 and 36mm hoses go up the boom arm...

That's why I like the protool because it doesn't have the hose storage!  God knows why they made it permanent on the festool one! Stupid!  Its crap for storing your hose in anyway because if you go for the large diameter hose and longer which mine all are they don't fit in.  So to me I have this weak plastic surround I can't stand on or anything just making the vac bulky for no reason.  Gutted protool hasn't replaced the festool version.   Speaking to others and my self included looked at cutting the hose storage off! Just the handle sticking up causes a problem!

The hose garage does make it more bulkier, I would also have liked to be able to buy one without hose garage. But now that I have one anyway, it's only a minor inconvenience. I wouldn't call it total crap. With some careful positioning I can even fit a standard 3,5m 36mm hose in it.

But if you really detest the hose garage you could always get some spare parts from the Festool CTL 36 AC HD and convert your vac to a flat top. Cost a bit, about 160 euro over here, but I'd say that's better than being irritated all the time.

Hi Jeff,

We met at the Las Vegas router course this spring.

I like your vac set up and I have some questions!

Are the blast gates a Festool product? Did you use the Festool router "Y"? Do you have the part #'s?

Thanks in advance,

Mike

MIKE - Hey, hows it going?!

The Y and blast gates are indeed Festool items  (prices in USD$)

452898 Antistatic Y-Adapter $35.00
497926 CT AC Blast Gate CT36-AC  $55.00 each (used 2)

I did not make any modifications to the hoses or parts, FYI.

Hi Jeff!

Thanks for the part #'s - I just ordered them. Just finished the Festool cabinet course at the Toronto Lee Valley store last week - this was their first time offering the training and they did a great job.

Hope you are doing well!

Cheers

Mike
