Probably been done before.....

If you can make a table or chair with four legs that doesn’t rock, stop reading.

I’ve been refinishing / rebuilding a small table for a friend.  After getting into it became apparent that I’d have to make new legs.  After my prior experience replacing a chair leg, I immediately broke out in a sweat about getting the table flat.  I’m sure there are ways to do this and it probably requires a jig.  I’ll be investigating that.

I was out of Botch Control to drink but I started the project anyway.  I’t been coming together nicely.  Yesterday was the moment of truth and I flipped the table.  Ouch.  It’s would be a great addition to the local playground.  I soldiered on contemplating how I might fix the problem.  I was surprised that I discovered another use for dominos.

Very cool .....  anchor points. And nice job.  [thumbs up]

Thankfully (for a couple of reasons) the legs have the little brass booties.
First, the ends of the legs are end grain.  Very tough end grain.  I tried to use a Whiteside 1/2" spiral flush bit with my OF1400 mounted to the CMS.  It chewed it up real good.  The material was too thick to profile the tips.

Second this little domino leveling.....  (First I thought about ordering 1000 matchbooks on Amazon) anyway.
Since I had the booties I went all the way through the leg. I could then level the leg by pushing them up and down.  When I glued them I shot a 23a. pin nail through them to hold it in position while the glue dried.

If I didn't have the booties I'd use my domino depth stops.

That is really creative and it looks like a good durable fix.

is that the wood version Bondo that you spread around the dominoes?

Thanks, Mike A.

It's Bondo "Filler"  but not the body filler.  The hardener is white instead of red and stains well.  Otherwise it has the same characteristics (sweet oder) as the red body filler.  I'll check the can.
