It's coming up on one year since I bought my first Festools.  I got a TS55, OF1400, MFT/3, CT36 and a RO125 for my first purchase.  I have acquired a few others for my shop since then.  It got me thinking - - what all did you get in your first year of green kool aid drinking?

Ts-55 for Christmas.  Then the 2700 rail and the Guide Rail Accessory kit.  I hadn't discovered the FOG quite yet and didn't understand the talk about a "system."

One of my best Christmas presents ever looking back.

Peter

Congratulations on your one year anniversary! I just passed mine...

Yep, just about my anniversary also. Last Christmas I convinced the wife I deserved a Domino 500, and it wouldn't do me any good at all without the CT26 and a Systainer full of dominos.  The "crack" factor set in and I immediately ordered a TS55 with the mft/3. Shortly after I convinced myself I "needed" the RS2 Sander, and a couple months ago while finishing up another project I required the acquisition of the RO90DX. More's coming, I can tell. Every one of the tools I've convinced myself to justify has proven to be exactly what it's represented as and I'm totally happy with the decisions, so far. Some of the offerings are still beyond my tipping point, but man, that seesaw is teetering all the time. Thanks for this opportunity to inventory my decisions and re-enjoy these purchases all over again, Jim.

This is a VERY disturbing topic! [scared]

It is frightening to look at the stacks of systainers that now occupy my as yet uncompleted shop...all acquired over the last 18 months. [eek]

The worst part is that Festool OCD apparently is not curable, and I have a number of tools that have not yet seen the light of day...though they will eventually. But the frightening part is trying NOT to calculate how much I've spent for all this in such a relatively short time! YIKES!  [embarassed]

Last week, I bought the FIRST non-Festool "tool" that I have purchased in many months. It felt really wierd!  It was a DeWalt Heat Gun Set that was on sale at Amazon. Yellow doesn't mix well with green (and makes "blue"). I had to hide the heat gun in a separate cabinet so as not to tick off my Green tools! [big grin]

Ah well.... At the end of the upcoming second Festool year, I'll be waiting for new entries from Festool, because I'll have owned just about everything else by then. OMG! [scared]

Cheers,
Frank (currently separated from my green friends at work in Nigeria)

My dealer saw that I was weak and let me have a TS55R, guide rails and bag, guide rail set, an OF2200 set and a Domino 500 with domino assortment with a CT26 for an introductory price. I thought I could handle it but within a month I needed another fix, I was only going to have a little taster really but the attraction was too strong and although I only asked for an RO 90 I discovered I really needed a full selection of Granit in all grits in both round and delta format to keep things nice and smooth, and of course an appropriate systainer to keep my stash in. I had everything under control until I was caught out by a PSC420 and all it's accessories, even then the craving was to strong and could only be satisfied by a Kapex, along with an MFT/3 to rest it on. I realised I was in trouble and attempted to wean my self of the green by trying smaller doses, I thought an OF1400 would help, it was fantastic, in fact it was so good I needed to double the dose and the second one followed soon after.

After a year of green addiction I needed to take stock. Fortunately this was easy because of the stack of festool I and II tool boxes with everything in as well as a multitude of systainers with all my fixings in little coloured boxes. I needed to get away from it all if I was going to overcome this and the easiest way to separate myself was with an FS3000 from the rest of my festool kit. The cabinets were coming thick and fast. I could transform sheets of Baltic birch into boxes in a flash but there was something missing. A T18+3 helped but once the centrotec kit and Zobo drills arrived I had a problem, only one drill but so many bits and with all the pilot holes needing to be drilled and screws placed, even with centrotec, changing bits was a chore, my addiction was making me lazy and the only solution was another T18+3 (and of course the depth stop, eccentric and right angled chucks). I had it beaten until an LR32 caught me unawares, but at least the cabinets were getting their share.

My name is Thistleman and I am an recovering addict. If only it was true. I held out for as long as possible but the DF500 just was not doing it for me. I would be very careful and only try a little of the DF700, maybe just 8 and 10mm, but the slope was step and slippery and I knew that I just had to have more, 12 and 14 mm helped a lot. I blame PP, I know that it was only a Vecturo and that my aged Fein was on its last legs but that video was my downfall. And then when I think I am going to be OK TTS puts a particularly pure form of PDC on the market and JRB whispers the magic word eBay in my ear, I am lost.

My second year is almost up and I am learning to control it but sense that this is only a temporary reprieve, Soon Festool may not be enough and I may need to move onto the hard stuff. I have heard that there is a dealer in MK supplying Felder.

Thistleman:

Such a great sad story. You have my sympathies admiration. I am so sorry happy that you have so many new toys tools to play work with.

I wish you continued success in the battle pursuit of your addiction hobby.

I am guessing you are not the only one that went all out that first year.  Maybe we'll hear from a couple more but its doubtful we'll get a story as good as the one you wrote.  Thanks for sharing.
