I've found that my boom arm has all but eliminated my historical tendency to step on the power cord to my router and cause me to have to remake a workpiece.  Now, with a Festool router and the DC hose attached via the boom arm, I no longer have sawdust all over the place or step on the power cord, but DO snag the hose on the corner of the MFT/3.  Seems that I just can't win here...  I'm thinking of adding a spring-loaded device of some sort right over the MFT/3 to hold the hose and power cord up away from the workpiece and the corners of the MFT/3.

[sad]

The boom arm and the MFT together make using any Festool a lot easier. You don't feel like you're fighting the cord and hose. I have a CT22 with the boom arm mounted to it kinda under and behind the MFT with a 36mm hose and cord (ready for whichever tool is being used), and a short 27mm section of hose that steps down for use with the sanders.

Didn't bother buying one, instead built a cart for the vac with a boom arm attached.  I made a "quick amd dirty" jobsite boom in a pinch and works quite well.  Will see if I can find the pic(s).

That's my kind of boom arm Jon.  I'd love to see a pic of the top of it if you have one.  Unless the top is pretty elaborate, it looks like about a $10 set up.  I work on site mostly and could break that down in a heart beat.

Lol, I've made a few "quick and dirty" jigs and attachments in a pinch too...

You're right, it's about $10.00 tops.  The top of the boom is just some conduit angle pieces with the hose velcro'd on to it.  Its just tall enough to allow me to rip a 4x8 sheet of ply on site without causing the whole contraption to move.  Best part is, it breaks down ridicously fast and takes up little room in the back of my truck (and if it breaks or gets damaged, it's easily replaced).  I'll see if I can set it up and take some pix of it, I couldn't find any on my phone...yet.  I might have a pic with it in the background.

Jon

Edit, found a pic.
