I have been thinking about this for a while [scratch chin] and have come to a decision!

Why?
Because over the years they have got me out of a tricky situation time and again in a timely fashion. Particularly with stair installations but with other works too. The real bonus is that they are an absolute joy to use [big grin] Much the same way as I am finding Festool tools more of a pleasure to use than some of the items being replaced.
Regards Rob.

I scored a compass plane in great condition from an old timer at a big yard sale last year. He was selling a lot of old tools, which I gladly took off his hands. the plane was unpriced, I inquired and he replied (in Swedish) "I don't even know what it is, but it's in good shape so a hundred kronor sounds fair ( +/- 13 USD) It was one of those times where you think... well here is an honest guy, he's got something valuable but doesn't know it.... So I told him there are a small handful of companies in the world that make these today, and they are hard to find used. He replied "well maybe I should have said 200"... I said- I'd be happy to give you 200 kronor, and we shook hands and smiled. I went on to buy quite a bit of what he had on his tables including a very old one meter *slide-locking*, as opposed to folding rule.
It was a good day.
I'll take some pictures when I'm back at the shop.

has a spot in my toolbags for sure

About how long is that blade and where did you buy it -- that looks like I would have good purpose for that tool.

about 240mm.  it's a pull saw and works very quickly. there are a few different blades you can buy too.
my friend's got the shorter one, i think about 210mm and that is nice too, actually would fit in my pouch a little better.

I got mine from http://ultimatetools.myshopify.com/pages/silkytools

They also sell them at KMS tools.

Or online here: http://www.silkytools.com/catalog/p_gomboy-fine-teeth.html

I carry a medium (yellow) Silky "Pocketboy" in my workpants/ toolbags. Use it every day
There is a fine (purple) "pocketboy" in my toolbox for the finest cuts.
Both these saws are worth twice what they cost, spare blades can be purchased.
When guys ask if they can "borrow it for a second" I say "if you bend it, you bought it- and yes, it has happened.
And get this- I built an entire timber dovetailed cabin using only a yellow pocketboy saw, a pencil, and a folding rule. And the proof you say?

Interesting how many people are showing tools that are basically for pulling nails.

Personally, I like the Nail Hunter (Nail Jack).  One of the most incredible tools for pulling nails out of things.
