Why?
Because over the years they have got me out of a tricky situation time and again in a timely fashion. Particularly with stair installations but with other works too. The real bonus is that they are an absolute joy to use [big grin] Much the same way as I am finding Festool tools more of a pleasure to use than some of the items being replaced.
Regards Rob.
I scored a compass plane in great condition from an old timer at a big yard sale last year. He was selling a lot of old tools, which I gladly took off his hands. the plane was unpriced, I inquired and he replied (in Swedish) "I don't even know what it is, but it's in good shape so a hundred kronor sounds fair ( +/- 13 USD) It was one of those times where you think... well here is an honest guy, he's got something valuable but doesn't know it.... So I told him there are a small handful of companies in the world that make these today, and they are hard to find used. He replied "well maybe I should have said 200"... I said- I'd be happy to give you 200 kronor, and we shook hands and smiled. I went on to buy quite a bit of what he had on his tables including a very old one meter *slide-locking*, as opposed to folding rule.
It was a good day.
I'll take some pictures when I'm back at the shop.
