Your Status as a Customer

I am always a prospective customer for more Festools (and others as well).  I like well made machinery that works as advertised.  I have a TS 55 with 3 blades, 1080 and 800 MFTs 1400 router, Freud 13A router in table, Deltex 93, RO 125, LS 130, Domino and CT 22 with Boom arm, Dust Deputy cyclone, Shopsmith (my drill press, lathe and additional sanding center), Shopsmith 11" bandsaw on dedicated motorized stand; General 10" TS with router table extension, 10" jointer/planer, 2.5 HP dust collection cyclone, and a HD maple workbench with side and end vices, and a Zyliss vice (which I find to be quite fast, versatile and handy for many tasks), and a bunch of clamps of various sizes and types (still I never seem to have enough of the right size and type!).  All I now need to do is !!organize!! them so I can get my car back into that garage.  I recently purchased a large reference square which confirmed that my little (8" blade, wooden handle with brass inside face), old, inexpensive Stanley square was dead on, both inside and outside!  On my shopping/wish list are MFS, a longer guide rail for reducing plywood sheets, and possibly another MFT, tooling for my routers, and layout, measuring and marking tools, a HVLP spray equipment set, and a complete C12 drill set with all the chucks and the big assortment of bits and drivers  (I currently have a Makita cordless drill and several older corded drills.  I remain partial to those older corded drills because they never run out of power and more importantly, their chucks grip the twist drill bits much more firmly which I find important when drilling through metal.)  The 1010 router would jump to high on my list if it could use 1/2" shank bits.  And eventually, to upgrade my bandsaw to a 14 to 16 inch unit.  I expect to run out of money and time before I run out of interest and projects that I want to do.  I prefer solid wood to veneers and plywood for most of my projects.

I realize that I have become a FOGaholic more than a Festool addict - I cannot let more than a day or two go by without coming to FOG to read every message.  This is truly a great site.  Thank you, Matthew, for what you have done.

Hi- This is my 1st post.  I have no Festools.  I looked at a lot of Domino online info when it came out and got into Festools in general.  I was impressed with seeing videos of the saw and table.  Yesterday I saw one Festool lady, a professional, I think, who said she got rid of her table saw.  I'm pressed for space and it seems that the MFT and saw has superior squaring papabilities- besides being space saving.

Continuing, I'm looking to learn what Festool owners think of their tools- a lot, I'm seeing- and if the system approach does what it is claimed.  I am a dentist and a hobbist woodworker with a Shopsmith, a Rout-R-Slide (Jessem), and a Sears sanding station.  I do some with hand tools but appreciate the capabilities power tools offer.

I am a cabinet and furniture maker and have only my Festool system and a planner - as well as a goodly assortment of hand tools.  The system does indeed work.  IMO, it is simply the best.  Go ahead and take the plunge - you'll be glad you did!

Welcome to the forum! 

I think you'll find that there's a lot of enthusiasm for Festool tools.  However, each of us has our unique wants, needs, perceptions, and constraints.  Part of the goal of this forum is to help find the best match of tools for our situation.

p.s., here's a pic of my "shop" (master bath) a couple of months ago.  The sub-floor that you see was cut to 1mm precision IN the bathroom with my TS55.  8)

Yeah, like cutting into the side rails of your MFT if you forget that little number!  (No, I have not done that yet, but a couple of days ago I made a 45 degree bevel index notch through my MFT fence.)  And when you start working with a Festool router, you move that measurement down to 0.1mm.

This is my first post as well. I have taken the Festool to heart. Sold my old gear including Hilti with EZ Smart system (no need to worry, I am not into politics nor religious debates) and in the past week have purchased:
TS55
MFT1080 with the clamping elements and F clamps
CT33
OF1400
FS2700 106" rail
RO150 with the anniversary Rotex watch (very nice)

I'm selling some more gear and have my eye on the ETS 150/3 sander. Though, I do have my sights on the MFS400 as well, would love to see Brice show it as a circle guide. I would like to use it instead of a Jasper 200 jig to build speaker driver holes.

Many thanks to Bill and Darcy from FestoolSupply for showing me the potential of what you can do with Festools. If you live in the Seattle area, you need to visit Bill to see someone who has real years of experience and a passion to share his knowledge. As a bonus, I got to see the Kapex in action. Meaning, I need to pray for a good year to bring home the Kapex.

Surely the rate of acquisition of Festools is also important to show how badly you are festoholic.....
I bought my first (C12) on December 24th as an early Christmas present to myself.
My lists now reads: C12 CE-MH45-Set, TS55, PS300, OF1010 EBQ, MFT 1080, RO125 FEQ-Plus which is 2 per week. C22 planned for tomorrow!! I have it bad

I have been on the fence with FESTOOL for a couple of years.

I normally hang out in a really "bad" forum where the discussion of high end tools are frequent and prominent topics of discussion.

I finally gave in and purchased the Domino, all the accessories, and the CT33. The packcage deal between the ct 22 and ct 33 was $50ish and I figured what the heck. Just buy the bigger one.

THEN, I had the opportunity to buy a lightly used RO 150FEQ, for $375 shipping included.  The package arrived with some 24 grit Rubin and some really nice cigars from the seller.  The seller was a true gentleman.

Anyway, he has a planer for sale and I am on the fence with this purchase so any comments would be appreciated.

Also, I have the opportunity to buy a TS55, extra rail and the accessory pack (clamps, etc, i forget the name of it) for $580 plus shipping.  That seems a bit high for used and I am weighing my options.

So with all this said, I might be knee deep in Festool if a couple months.

Any suggestions,  I really am starting to like those MFT's.

  That is definetly high compared to buying a new TS55 with free shipping.  How long is the extra rail?  Also the accessory set is of questionable value, because a large part of its price is the Angle unit. If you do a search for the Angle unit you will find several threads discussing its so so  usefulness.  A new TS55 is $440 the Acc Set is $166 thats $606 with free shipping (compared to the $580 + shipping) so it depends a lot on the cost of the extra guide rail.  But shipping on that, especially if the guide rail is a real long one, will be quite a bit.

the extra rail is 55cm (?) i think, not a long one I know that.  I totalled it out and new cost was a little over $700 or about 85 pct of new.  So that is why I say I am on the fence with that purchase.  I will probably punt and just buy new.

      Hmmmm, there is no 55cm.  55" comes with the saw.  If it would be $700 new and he is asking $580 plus shipping I'd go new.  This would be multiple packages for sure and it wouldn't surprise me if shipping hit around $50 -$60.  You wouldn't be saving much and who  knows how much warranty time is left. Plus you might do better by buying seperate accessories and or one of the real long guide rails instead.
