Nothing ground breaking and it certainly isn't rocket science but it's been a long time coming. I painted this my last year in highschool (1994) and got it signed almost two years ago when I went with my dad to see Rice get inducted into the HOF in Canton, OH. I made a mitered frame for the painting to fit in. The crown was some I had laying around and I attached that to the frame leaving approx. a 1/4" reveal. I enclosed the whole thing with some 3 5/8" stock that I routed a cove in and then cut a large bevel so that the sides didn't go straight back into the wall (it helps to keep the frame from seeming too bulky). All of the stock is poplar. I used Charles Neil's blotch control before staining with some SW stain that I had left over. That was followed by a coat of lacquer and then some of Mohawk's Van Dyke Brown glaze.
