2nd day in a row, FOG is so slow, I’ll be back tomorrow.

I know that if Festool would ever decide to move to another platform I would be concerned about the past postings (the real value of a forum like this) to transfer over successfully.

I can't speak to all software platforms, but I have migrated phpBB and vBulletin platforms to XenForo without any loss of information.  XenForo has an importer for SMF, but I don't know what version this site uses.  In some cases, the existing software must be upgraded to the current release prior to importing to XenForo.

Planning and testing are important, and in each case I used a stripped down version of the donor website to work through any issues before shutting down the donor site prior to the full transfer.  The last time I did this, I was also changing servers because the existing hardware and software were past their end of life dates and had not been supported for years prior to the transfer.

I got confirmation that the site was slow yesterday when I tried to log on and earned a ,”Your request has timed out.  Try again later.”

Yesterday and today it has been all over the place in regards to speed.  From quick and handy to “timed out”.  I never knew which FOG I was logging on for until I saw that bar at the top of the screen moving from left to right (on my IPad).

And I agree, the performance here does not reflect well on Festool, though I am not at the point of blaming them.

For me, it wasn't the slowness that occurred before, it was just glitchy. Some posts would open normally, others not at all. I would get some error message or a page not found error. I just assumed that some kind of maintenance was underway and logged off.

Peter, it was dog slow all day long except for a brief moment around 7:00 AM this morning, after that I gave up. Now @ 9:20 PM it's back to normal.

It's a weird thing and obviously the Festool crew hasn't fully figured it out. For me, it's a time to take care of other business, but it also means I don't bother responding to some of the inquiries on the FOG.
