3M PPS Question

I just bought the 3M PPS system and plan on using it with a Fuji MM5.  I put the liner in the cup and the cup on the gun with the adapter.  I then hooked up the hose coming from the gun and connected the other end to the 3M cup.  When I turn the gun on the liner does NOT collapse.

Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks,
Trevin [scared]

First make sure the liner and the cover with the strainer in it is sealed together good(flat)
not crooked then attach the ring holding them together snug..
Next turn the gun upside down and pull the trigger till the air is bleed out of the cup .

If the check valve is in line make sure the flow direction is correct.

If it is a bottom feed gun, flip the unit over and pull the trigger (as mentioned above), top feed, just pull the trigger.

You may have the exact same problem that I had.  The liner isn't sealing on the cup rim and this leak can't be heard over the sound of the turbine if near by.  To verify with just with water in a sealed cup for a test, spray some water around the top of the cup looking for bubbles.  I use two liners, it's a bit tight but works for me.

Trevin,
I have your same setup. The cup will not fill with air until you open the Fluid adjusting knob and you press on the trigger.

Mine does......

Tom,

Your set up is different. I take the air from the gun where the check valve usually goes and not directly from the hose like you have it. I believe.

I knew that. Just didn't want to confuse Trevin.
By the way, I love this system. Sprays much better then using a pot from Fuji or any other manufacturer.

That wouldn't really matter where the air comes.  I have the same set up as Tom and the liner does collapse up to a certain point without pulling the trigger.  I close the air off to the gun up to the point(sometimes not! [big grin]) where I think it's going squirt a stream and then apply air to the to gun.  Air and/or product has to have some path to come out or else nothing moves.

Thanks guys.  I will give it another go this weekend.

If you do NOT use the check valve, do you need to plug the end on the gun?

The small hose, with or without the check valve needs to be connected to the gun and cup.

Do not use the cup that came with the gun without a check valve, bad things will happen.

Hi Trevin,

Here's a photo of how I have the PPS, large cup, attached to my T70 gun. Works great.

Cheers,

That is how I had it setup except I have the top feed gun.  I will try it again.  One other thing.  Does the 3M adapter fit onto your gun or does it seem to bottom out when threading it on to the gun.  Should I use teflon tape there?

Mine does not bottom out. I use adapter #18 and it is very tight.

Fuji seems to have a problem with threads.  I've seen replacement parts where the threads were ragged and/or rough.[/quote]

Cracked me up    "Do not use the cup that came with the gun without a check valve, bad things will happen."
Hopefully we don't try that or have a check valve that's stuck wide open
