Not even fifteen minutes ago I just received a cordless Carvex barrel grip that Tom at Tool Home did a great job scoring for me through the recon sale.  Looked new and out of the box, I just slapped a blade in that came with it and started cutting tight curves into some one inch thick scrap hardwood.  Man, what a beautiful machine!  I thought originally it would complement my corded trion but if first impressions are correct, I'm going to go out of my way to use this thing as often as I can.
Next thing I know, I'm online checking for new additions to the list.  Recon fever!

I also got a Shinex that was on my list for a while.  Anyone here have any experience with this?  What accessories did you start out with?  Also is there any systainer that this would fit in with pad attached?

Shinex can be purchased in a maxi in the rest of the world...

No assumptions on skill here ... just a public service announcement ... [wink]

Rotary polishers are aggressive. Most people make a huge mistake with a rotary polisher the very first time they use it ... and that's often on the bonnet of a nice car.

In ROTEX mode the RO's are amazing polishers due yo their orbital pattern. A RO is perfect for polishing out holograms and swirls in a car's paint ... a SHINEX is a tool a skilled detailer or finisher typically uses.

If you're going to perform paint correction on a car (or anything else nice), the ROTEX will be slower, but you're far less likely to regret your efforts.

elfick:  that looks like a nice kit--too bad i can't procure that in the US
kev: that's very good info to know about the rotary polisher.  luckily i have both the rotex 90 and 150.  i got the shinex for larger scale sculptural pieces in stainless and bronze.  and the price was right.

just to bump my original questions real quick before i start buying accessories:  does anyone on the FOG actually use a shinex regularly?  what supplies kit did you start with?

I would call Tom and ask him to put together something similar to what elfick posted, hopefully everything in it would be available to you in the USA.  You could use kaizen foam to make the insert.  Just a suggestion as I have never owned or handled the shinex.
