I need to get a mobile base for my new Powermatic band saw. I would like to build one for it. Has anyone every used the 80/20 material to make one? I have never used it before and was wondering if it would work well. It weights around 400#. Any in site would be great. Thanks

I would get this and call it a day.

I have made things of 8020 extensively. The size profile you need will larger than most good bases made of steel or steel/aluminum(normally the corners benefit being steel).  You are going to end up paying about the same as this, for something more cumbersome, probably not as good and definitely a whole lot more work.

This base here is overkill and should be a beauty for your machine. I wouldn't drop down to the next lower end unit from them though, for me the rating are over stated and anything 600 lbs plus really needs a base like this, not the PM 2500 version.

If you do go 8020 take a look at the 3030, it pretty solid., I just don't think anything smaller will be stiff enough:

That is a nice base. I may just order one. My honey do list is very long for the new house
