$99 PRO 5 Sander Promotion + $50 Voucher - New Festool REQ Sanders (US)

It has me wondering why the offer is so good, and if there would be others.  I wonder if Festool is testing out a lower cost / higher volume strategy, or possibly quarterly outstanding deals to get new customers hooked ("the first one's free").

This is a one-off promotion. I wouldn't get used to it.

I'm glad that many of you FOG folks are getting one (or seven  [wink]), but the main idea was to make it easier for people to try Festool for the first time.

[member=57769]TylerC[/member] Any difference between the old ETS125 and this new one other than the systainer color?

[member=19734]grbmds[/member], here are the improvements over the ETS 125 EQ.

- More powerful 250W motor to improve material removal rates up to 25%
- Included pad protector for sanding up close to adjacent surfaces
- Bayonet-style locking dust port and optional reuseable dust bag
- Improved ergonomics with reduced vibration and soft grip
- The sanding performance and dust collection you expect from Festool

At the rate these seem to be selling FOG members are going to buy them all up, and there won't any available for new customers.

I think this is a great offer from Festool. There are so many who are "on the fence" or just completely anti-Festool because of the prices. This is an opportunity for folks to dip their toe in the water and see what it's like. The water is great, come on in!  [big grin]

Sure, many current customers will take advantage of this phenomenal deal too. I'm sure it's an expected result.

Ordered one, no need for it, but the cord and systainer are worth buying it.

Judging from the tread in couple months we'll see a lot of ETS125 PRO 5 e-bay offerings.  [big grin]
Anyway, are there half-off plans for Domino XL in blue systainer any time soon?

Me too.  I sure feel like a sucker for buying an ETS 125 at full price years ago.  Is the PRO built to a lesser standard? I'll sure feel like a massive sucker if all the tools get discounted in a similar fashion.

I ordered one. At that price I can afford to keep one with a super soft pad and maybe not have to deal with that interface pad again. To me the interface pad has been a necessary evil. Too many holes to line up.

Can someone throw in a few points I have not thought of?--part of me still wants to get this.

Hey [member=2205]teocaf[/member], the best part is that the sander is basically free.

Take the $99 price tag and subtract the $74 price of a Systainer 2, then subtract the price of a $44 Plug-it cord and you come up with a -$19 price tag. Who can't use an extra Systainer & extra Plug-it cord? Even if you never use the voucher...you're still ahead of the game. [popcorn] [popcorn]

Okay, you talked me into it.  I have an RO 125 in a classic systainer that I was going to buy a T-Loc for, so this comes with a spare cord and a spare sander.  I haven't used an ETS 125, but I just bought an ETS EC 125 for the shop last week, and I love it.  I was considering buying one for myself, but I'll go along with this.

Out of curiosity, [member=57769]TylerC[/member] , is the PRO 5 German-made?

Tempting for sure, but I have the previous version already. Not sure about the new hose connector, seems like it will be more of a mess.

[member=57769]TylerC[/member] I do like the edge protector, anyone know if that one will fit the current model ?

May have to try it I guess.

I did not really need this but it is just too good of deal to pass up, just ordered.

Hey [member=8843]Kodi Crescent[/member] ...don't feel like a sucker, you've used the sander for years and you've probably got your moneys worth out of it at this point.

What Festool is now embarking on is called market penetration. Festool is launching a huge effort to become a major player in the US tool market. This can be seen in their recent commitment to producing tools that have imperial markings rather than metric markings. Another aspect of it also pivots around them offering a loss leader to allow those folks that are on the fence, to purchase a Festool product and to experience the resultant Festool experience first hand.
If you offer a loss leader (think the new ETS 125) and it's a winner, thousands of product will be sold, but it's really not the product that they make a killing on, it's the disposables and future good will that is the target. Think about all of the pads, Systainers, Plug-its, dust collectors and abrasives that will be purchased for each new ETS 125 sold. [jawdrop]

It's really marketing 101 and they're off to a good start...now about those nasty Kapex problems... [poke] Festool...is there any body out there?
