A Members Shop and Extended MFT

two tables are better than a 1 long table.  with two have choices as to how you join then and it is more rigid. do not get me wrong a large table is great if you do not have to move it but then i think you should consider some of the integrated designs that incorporate systainer storage.

I doubt the cross members would be any good - for a start, they're designed to go across between the legs, and now the legs are further apart they wouldn't reach.

They might be a bit usefull, they're designed to fold within the legs when not in use, not to go across them. The bracket they attach to, attaches to the bottom groove in the long mft profile (they actually don't reach that far inward).
But I think their main purpose is, to  reduce the flex in the joint between the legs and the table (so it sways less left to right), not the  downward flex you mentioned. (allthough it might help a little bit with that aswell)

Sorry Gents,
Not been keeping up with stuff and did not know it had been split into another thread.

So I will try and answer some questions.

Flex

The flex is not in the frame but is the sagging of the tops as they are only supported on 3 sides, so the cure is simple . Screw a support baton to the under side and brackets onto the frame.

Why one big MFT and not 2. Cost Cost Cost. the MFT is a stupid price here and the 2m profile only cost me about £110. (its an acc so I get good discounts)

I also retain flexability, I can convert back to standard size easily. I am thinking longer term of making some sort of MFT type bench with systainer storage underneath. I would only use the long rails so i could remake the original MFT. Think I would use Qwas Dogs and rail for the big MFT

Rails are avaliable from any dealer as they are a standard  item.

MFT3 rails and the old 1080 are NOT compatable.

One Big MFT because I need it for big cupboard assembly and cutting long panels.

The MFT CMS set up is just a bonus.

do you have your t5 racked out for systainers windmill man? if so any chance of pics.... [smile]

Hi Speed,
No The T5 is not racked out as i use it for delivering big pieces and need it clear . Systainers just get stacked in. Its a good van .

Alan,

The rails come in pairs - you want one pair 2m rails, and one pair of the longer rails from the MFT/3 (472863). You can find the parts here on EKAT.

Click that link, then on the left, click 'workplace organisation', then click 'MFT3', then click on '495314 - MFT/3'. Or, you can simply type '495314' into the search box.

You can find the part numbers/prices on there, then take those to your dealer & order them from him.

At first glance it may appear that the EKAT system doesn't show the table, and only displays the additional hardware (guide rail brackets, fence and such).  The table parts are displayed on page 2 of the data for the MFT/3 -- click on the right arrow above the diagram to proceed to page 2.

John,

I see you have a nice New shape T5 sitting outside too GIT  [laughing] I bought mine just before they changed shape 2009 off road grey mine is.

Hi Joiner.

Yep 2010 130bhp LWB 6 speed T5. love it and you can get a 2.7m rail in. Prefer driving it to our other car.

John

I have a 2009 swb not tried to get my 2700 rail in it yet  [laughing] I might have to cut a hole in the bulkhead to get it in.
