My name is Garry Keas.  I now live in Loveland, Colorado, and I started my own A/V company 2 years ago.  I've been in this industry for 13 years, now.

Audio Video Integrated Designs

I have always been fairly handy(capped), the consumate "do-it-yourself-er", but I just got into woodworking recently, maybe 2 months ago.  I really enjoy this site, and the tips I find.

My "workshop" is 1/2 of a smallish 2 car garage.  Festools are perfect for this!

The woodworking has very little to do with my business, but if I had to, I could justify all of my Festool purchases (the "Company" actually pays for all my tools ;D, so the Mrs. can't complain, not that she would, anyway.)

We won't have a definitive answer on whether the tools are right for your business unless you try out one of everything. Since we don't really need her permission in this case. Welcome to the Forum. Onward into the FOG.

RIght on.  I think I still need a jig saw, another sander, and an MFS.

A kapex would be great, too.  This is me, holding my breath. :P

Have your business get you a business class ticket to Australia, and you can come use my Kapex.  ;D

There's a jigsaw for sale in the classifieds.

Unfortunately you'll need about three sanders to reach equilibrium it seems.

The MFS I like a lot. I'm just getting into it.

Hey Garry

Welcome to the forum!!! I've read many of your posts and enjoy your enthusiasm.

I work in Film and Television. The industry (both consumer and Professional changes so quickly). Very difficult to keep up with it.

Thanks for the responses.  Eli,  it might actually be cheaper for me to commision you to use the Kapex, and have you ship me the finished work.  Dan, I am often quoted as saying "what I do isn't rocket sciece, but if everyone could do it, I wouldn't have a job" ;D

Nope. You gotta be here to book time!

My favorite rocket science quote is "Fast, Cheap, Good. Pick any two, it isn't rocket science"

That reminds me of cycling.  "Cheap, light, strong.  Pick two"

I'd have to say the stuff we do is rocket science  ;) with all of the full dolby digital surround sound, dolby e, delays, two pops, High definition video at different frame rates, progressive scanning/interlaced scanning, Monitor profiling for Digital Intermediate, etc.

Somedays I wish I could sell Festool's and  Lie Nielsen tools and make a living at it.
