I promise - this is not a whine!

I was cutting some thick stock the other day with my TS55 and noticed the cut was very slightly off square vertically.  I confess to being a little shocked as the saw has cut perfectly so far in spite of a few falls and lots of abuse.  Went to Rick C's excellent manual and quickly adjusted the blade to square using his procedure.  Back to perfect cuts with about five minutes of effort (mostly spent finding the T20 Torx driver and some scrap MDF).

OK, now the amazing part, just out of curiosity I went to my files to see how long I had been running this saw.  The first required adjustment was 5 years to the day on the invoice!

I think I had to adjust my DeWalt about every five days.

Thanks to the folk at Festool for building a quality tool and to Rick for explaining the adjustment in simple English with a clear diagram!!

Im suprised the dewalt was still working after 5 days [big grin]

5 years  :o And no bevel cuts?

Everytime I install the TS75 in the CMS, I raise the blade to full 'depth' and check the angle. It's so easy to check and correct, that's why you bought Festool!

I've heard rumours about Rick C's manuals, searching the site :D ya, I can't find it right now. Maybe when it's daylight and I'm awake... zzzzzzzz

So whats wrong with DeWalt?

My DeWalt Miter Saw Still working after 9 years.

And it still hasn't finished?  [blink]

At that point I might try making the cut by hand...

MY TS was out so I used Rick's method the the other week and wish I had done so sooner. The 45 degree setting was out by a country mile. It has dawned on me now that it is correct that I can tweak it on the fly depending on what I'm doing. I can open it up a turn or two to get a tighter mitre if the inside edge can't be seen and turn it back to a true 45 for other joints.

On the subject of mitering with a TS, does anybody find the saw a bit of a handful in this position? I find the best way for accurate cuts is to keep my left hand pressed firmly down on the front left hand edge of the saw base plate as I cut. It's awkward but stops the saw tipping.

thx Rick for sharing all your efforts with fellow ww's.... great information...
