Hi Folks,
I'm an instrument repair person and I use a Festool 1010 router to do pickup installations . I normally use a 1/8 inch bit but lately I find that I need to do some 3mm routs and can not find a 3mm bit with a 1/4" shank.
Does anyone on this forum know of a way to adapt the 1010 chuck to take a bit with a 3mm shank ? The only thing I've been able to find are mill bits.
Thanks ! Al W.

If you're in the USA there is a company called the  Elaire Corporation that manufactures collets to fit a number of different routers and die grinders. They do mention custom router collets on their website, but they also sell reducing collets that can be inserted in regular dimension collets to reduce the diameter for smaller bit shanks. One size they make is 3mm inside diameter, 1/4" outside diameter. Prices seem reasonable, though I don't know about shipping charges. I haven't ordered from them myself yet, but have seen them recomended. This is the page showing the collet reducers.
