Hey guys,

I´m having problems with the slider of my K700 Felder saw, its tilted so I have called Felder and some technician is due to call me back.

I´ve been thinking of how to solve this issue without some technician from Felder and just would to know if someone has adjusted the slider them selves and if they were pleased with the results.

What I´m thinking if it is a good idea to put a string of tape that is 3 mils thick on the cast iron table, then put my Veritas steel straight edge on top of the tape and then adjust the mounting studs under the slider until it touches the straight edge since the slider is supposed to be slightly higher than the cast iron table. My slider is mounted on two pairs of mounting studs so I would use two straight edges and have someone help me out checking one of the straight edges as I check the other one..

In a worst case scenario I would be obliged to have a technician come over..

What do you think? Have you got any tips? Better ideas?

If it was me I'd be looking to get Felder to make the adjustment to the correct tolerances. There's also the potential that something critical is not as it should be and may need replacing.

There are youtube videos on how to do this, but I'm not certain they're "endorsed"

A couple of questions.

How old is the saw?
How long is the slider?
Do you have a lot of patience's with fine adjustments?

Adjusting a slider can be a long tedious process, yes I have done it. The shorter the slider the easier the process. My current slider is a K700S pro and is 126" long. It was setup on delivery by Felder in 2010 and hasn't needed any adjustment. My previous saw was a K500S with a 98" slider that wasn't delivered by Felder and had to be setup by myself. It can be a long process with 8 adjustment bolts. The Felder Owners Group has a lot of helpful people and you might find it worth joining.

My saw is from 2011 and Ive got the short slider, and patience? I guess Ill have to find out haha.. my saw was not bought directly from Felder and the previous owner was a high school and Im guessing the students didn't care much to take care of the machine.. Since my machine has the short slider it has two pairs of mounting studs..

Ive sent a request to join the Felders Owners Group now thanks!

But back to my questions.. it sounds almost too easy to be true that I could adjust the slider by putting for example tape or feeler gages on the cast iron table then a straight edge on top and clamp it to the cast iron and then adjust the slider with the help of another one checking the other straight edge..

The first thing is to make sure the saw is level/stable and the cast iron top is flat. I have my slider set at about .008" above the cast iron for ease of cutting large sheet goods. Some don't like it that high but I believe that is the Felder spec. The rest of the adjustments are on the studs, the trick being not to torque the slider that could cause binding. Also you have to make sure the slider is slightly toed out from the blade .002" to .003" the same as the rip fence should be. See you on the original FOG.
