Adjusting the Bosch SCMS to square (sorry, non-festool topic)

Hi all,

I figured you guys would know.

I have a Bosch 3915 SCMS and I wanted to use it to make final cuts in some melamine which was too long to be easily cut elsewhere...though I ended up sliding two MFT's together and cutting them there.

Anyway, I could not get the darned thing to repeatedly cut square.  I couldn't find the manual so the only adjustments I could readily see were on the fence.  Well, the fence is two pieces with one piece stationary so adjusting it didn't work very well.

Any thoughts?  Thanks

Actually, if you go to Amazon.com You will see the first review for that saw is from 2000 and is by Matthew Schenker! Incidentally he gave it 5 stars.  PM Mathew and see if he can  give you the scoop since he owned the saw.

The sliders are notorious for not cutting square or cutting square from to back, but not in the middle(from flexing). That is one thing I hope the Kapex solves!

Bill,

I have the 4410L.  I doesn't cut square either.  In my case, the built-in wings are not coplanar with the bed.  And it can't be fixed!    I don't know anything about yours, but if it has wings, you might want to check them.

Good luck.

Regards,

Dan.

Dan can't you shim a sub fence on the front of the existing fence square to the blade and table?

Nick,

It's not the fence that's not square.  The left wing isn't coplanar with the bed.  I think that might be throwing it off.  It does that to mine.

Dan.

Dan, yea, I think that's exactly the problem.

Thanks for the replies.
