I do not know why I waited so long to make this boom arm! It took less than an hour to make it! It is made of a plastic pipe. The pipe has a very thick wall. I do not know exactly what kind of plastic it is but there are some markings on the pipe that you can see.
I asked a plumber to cut it and make an "L" shape. It took about 5 minutes. Than I attached with screws some segments that I have cut from a PVC pipe. At the end I attached the boom arm to the MFT-leg and MFT-profile with metal brackets that I bought in a local store.

That's it! The boom arm is now ready and it can rotate in place and it is really very comfortable to work with!!

Here are some pictures of the boom arm

Thanks posting this! I would like to have the official boom arm but I'm a DIY'er and don't go outside the house. If I were a contractor I would buy the $375 arm from Festool but considering it will be at my home shop 95% of the time... I'd rather spend that same money on another festool sander.

Hey this is awesome. I wish I had seen this 2 years ago. This would've been a better option, financially. I can't remember how I was able to justify my boom arm purchase.
