Another New Product - CMS

I really like this cms...I will be in Germany next month [unsure] has anyone ever tried to bring something like this back before?  Maybe in your luggage?

Voltage &plug difference? Other then that for stuff that is not electrical, I do not see why you could not buy it then ship it home. People do it all the time on vacation.

Are you buying the modules too?  From what I've heard, I think the router module may be one of the only ones available here.  Is this true?  If so, you might want to consider getting a module for your saw (assuming you have a TSxx) while you're there, as I am fairly sure that those won't be available here.  If all we can get here is the router module, I cannot begin to justify purchasing the CMS -- no matter how nice it looks.

Since the CMS is scheduled for our markets, it certainly would be nice to know what we can expect in the way of CMS modules.

The CMS schedule for USA availability?? When did that happen? I thought is was in UL indefinitely for review and approval, with no distribution dates. If this is old info please update me...

As far as I know the release hasn't been decided. Since I'm at Festool's US headquarters I'll ask the big man himself, but I won't expect much info to be forth coming.

At what point will Festool relent and let us buy from Euro/Aussie dealers and have this sipped to us? There is plenty of documented interest.  Warranty issues don't really seem to be that big of a hangup to me, as the tools are by far more likely to need support, and they'll have been purchased locally.

I dont think Festool will let you import it due to liability issues. Of course nothing prevents you from buying one over there and bringing it in you luggage.

Haha, true... but the shipping is just much more expensive that way.

i already posted this in a different cms post on the fog with a picture.
there is a cms table extension which connects to the cms-ge. it is called the cms-vb.

here is the link to the other post with a picture of my configuration with the cms-of and the cms-ts side-by-side.

In reality if truth be told, there are plenty of us here on this side of the pond that would love the CMS.
I know that if and when it becomes available here I will make the move quickly to obtain the setup and
this will allow me the luxury of doing away with a table saw setup that takes up more room than I really can afford.
The other end of this would be it ease of setup at job sites as I do my cabinet installations.
To me bring it on , I am ready to make the purchase for sure

Plenty of us.  P-L-E-N-T-Y.

I'd love the CMS for site use.  I'd be able to ditch my little DeWalt saw and also have a handy router table set up on site if needed.  I usually have my 55 or 75 (often both) with me anyway, and this would give those tools even more utility.  It won't replace anything in the shop, but man it'd be nice to have for site use.

I have requested comments from installers that use the CMS system in Europe and they outlined the net benefits of this system, yet most prefer the Precisio when it comes to table saw duty.  But when taking everything into consideration,(transport, alternate tool uses) they really recommend this system even though you have to part with a considerable amount of cash to acquire it and its nifty accessories.  I definitely would be purchasing it when and if it ever becomes available in NA.

As a Festool dealer in Canada I can't begin to tell you how important the CMS is to 'completing the system" of a complete dust free, compact, portable shop.

I have spent quite a bit of time in Europe and have seen the CMS system up close and as a user and retailer I do see the value in the system and suspect it or some of it will some day be available in North America!!! However, I do suspect it will be fairly expensive so save your pennies or in Canada (your loonies)!!!!

It continues to be a long wait.........................for the CMS in North America.

I think it's been established that the reason the CMS isn't available stateside is NOT because Festool USA don't want to bring it in, or somehow 'can't be bothered'.

It's not down to Festool USA, it's down to UL, and *possibly* Festool Germany to look at re-engineering some aspects of it to meet UL approval.

Festool engineers seem to take their time with everything to make sure it's right. UL seem to take their time, for no particular reason. The combination of both together may well explain the geological speed with which the CMS is crossing the Atlantic...

I looked all over the NEW Rotex 90 and could not find the UL approval logo. There were some other logos, maybe they are different approval body, and fill the same function. [huh]
