Another reason to own Festool

From the old FOG:

I live in an area subject to frequently occurring Acts of God. Forest
fires and hurricanes have some things in common--you have no choice
but to get out of the way, and you do get some warning. One of the
reasons I chose to go Festool was the ease of packing up to get out.

I can evacuate about 70% of the shop in 30 minutes, if I've previously
put things away. In our latest quick exit, every Festool item left,
except the MFT and guide rails. Didn't want to risk banging them up.
All non-Festool tools in Systainers made it onto the truck too.
Everything, including the CT22, fit in the pickup under the bed cover.

My wife is using Systainers as well. We've agreed that all Systainers
are to be evacuated. Particularly precious stuff gets a Systainer,
and the cost of a box guarantees there will be some thought about
what's precious. Now that she's packed hers, we'll leave them packed
until the end of the fire season. The danger will be greatly reduced
by the American Thanksgiving holiday (November 24), and we'll
celebrate by unpacking the family heirlooms.

Forest fires have one advantage over tropical storms. A hurricane
does not give immunity to another storm at the same spot, but the
fires create areas that are much less likely to burn for the next few
years at least. A fire that takes no lives and damages little
property is actually a good thing, making us safer in the future. Big
grins in my town right now.

Just curious, but how many systainers do you own?

Around 33, scattered around the house.  Somebody here (you?) mentioned having more than 50.

The dog sleeps in her travel crate, so it's familiar to her if we have to bug out.  I investigated making her crate out of a Systainer, but 1) the SYS 5's weren't available yet, and 2) even a 5 isn't quite enough for a small poodle.  There are breeds that could be comfortable, though.

Ned,

Was'nt me I only have 14, however I would like to start putting my non Festool tools in systainers.
I would like to make stickers, do you know of any sticker paper that will print and be water proof?
It would be cool to use a Computer with a printer and do them at home.

Mirko,

I use a Brother P-Touch label maker.  It takes their TZ tape.  You can get common widths of tape locally; a much wider choice is available from their website, including an 18mm High-Strength Adhesive product that I use.
