Anyone construct their own Festool tools from the EKAT site?

Like the subject says has anyone built a festool tool from EKAT's site?

I'm in a low paying job and saving up for some of these tools can be a very long wait.  I figured that my next two items will be the TS 55 and the MFT/3.  I'm not going to build the TS 55 as that I want the systainer, blade and guide rail in the package, but I am considering building the MFT first then follow by building the accessories for it.  I may also cut the cost of the top by making my own table top from MDF from a local box store.  After that I was aiming to either build the 125 EQ 5" RO sander or spend more on the 150/3 RO sander.

So, any one do something like this?  Please share opinions, options or anything that could help.

you could build the mft 3 but i think i read that it is dearer that way.
i wouldnt even think about (unless your a electronics and tool repair genious) any of the power tools.
you might be better off looking at some sort of loan and pay it back every week.
this is how i buy most of my high priced tools . if i need something then i need it and waiting looses potential income that would have paid for some of it

Even without the top, by my calculations you're going to pay a lot more buying it as spare parts. Maybe you can consider posting in the classifieds here on the forum, checking eBay or Craiglist, etc.

Thanks guys I'll just stick to buying it from a retailer then.

I just took a tally of all the parts of the MFT/3 including accessories and it's near $650 without the table top which is near $150 itself.  Plus shipping multiple orders would've been pretty bad on its own.

Allthough it's definately not financially attractive to build an entire tool from spare parts, it's sometimes an option to buy some extra parts and have two different tools. For instance the rustofix and the ras180, the rts and dts sanders, there might be others. Or maybe get a big ct vacuum to which you attach the boomarm and get the tub from the ct26 when you need it to be more mobile.
