Just got my Domino XL and it runs really loud.  Loud enough to make my ears ring after use.  Just want to make sure that's normal.  Wish I could tell you how many db, but I don't know.  It sounds a bit louder than my Milwaukee Saws All.

I used one at demo day and it was loud but not horribly so. I only did a couple of slots, If i was using it a lot I would wear earp protection.

I used one a demo about a year ago and it was a bit loud but not horrible.

Just thought I'd ask because I was a bit surprised by how loud it was, not saying there's anything wrong with it.  It sounds like my Porter Cable Portable Oscillating Spindle Sander.  I was surprised by how loud that thing was as well.  When I got a second one and found it to be just as loud, I thought...OK, so be it.  I think I should have posted this in Ask Festool.

My [relatively limited] understanding of a domino's inner workings is that it is a specialized router that uses more complex machinery to do a more specific task.

Routers are loud.  As others have said, always wear ear protection.

I thought they ran at a lower RPM than the smaller 500 model due to the larger bits in the XL's capacity. Having said that, for the brief time that I've used an XL at Festool's Class in Lebanon, it seemed normal Domino noise level to me.

Mine is very quiet, I should probably use it more [embarassed]
