Armor Dog Fence

A little while ago I bought these dog fences. One face is about 0.600" tall and the other 1.250". They can be locked in place but from the bottom of the MFT top. I use them but always thought they would be more useful if they were just under 1/2" tall. This way I could use them with my Domino jointer and not have the Domino fence interfere with the tall dog fence.

Any suggestions how to shorten them? Maybe belt sander?

(but those TSO TDS-10 rail stops shure look inviting  [big grin])

Mike,
cutting them down on a router  table is probably the safest way.
Instead of the dogs that came with it, use a pair of hex head bolts to fit the aluminum T-slot and bolt this to a suitable piece of wood for workholding while routing.
Make repeated shallow cuts.

Or, use the same workholding approach to rip the aluminum on the table saw with a blade designed for non-ferrous material.
Take the rest of the time to clean up the residue from the cutting wax or WD-40 lubricant along with all the chips around your shop and in your shoe soles.

-or treat yourself and buy a TDS-10 set BLACK Friday morning - rather than later [smile]

These fences were very inexpensive through Craftsman. I decided to use my portable BS for this - I had built a nice wider/thicker table for it. Then it took very little sanding.

Was curious - the original fence had a tall and short fence. The tall fence is square to the base whereas the short one has maybe 5-10 degree cant. Why would this be?
