Getting ready to sand a cabinet top. I'm looking for a "hard" pad for the subject sanders. Currently (as delivered ) the 150/3 has light blue 498986 super soft and the 150/5 has black soft.

I see new pads which look like modern replacements:

202458 black soft
202459 gray super soft
202460 blue? hard

Looks like 202460 is the one I need?

(The top is 32" square. Am I correct in thinking my ETS's with hard pad are good for the job? Or is a half sheet sander recommended? I have sanded many cabinet door panels with the combo.)

Thanks

I've used the ETS 150's with the blue pad for the last 12 years flattening large surfaces on too many projects to remember, never found the need for a 1/2 sheet sander.

Thank you!

The blue is the hard pad and it should work great for your application. IMO the RS2E is a great sander and works great for large surfaces but you certainly don’t NEED it when you have a ETS EC and your work piece is only 32” square.

Now if you said that you were building 14 table tops that were 40x120” I would strongly suggest that you invest in the RS2E 😊.

I have both plus a few more and I would say that the ETS EC gets 80% of the work and the RS2E gets maybe 5%. It’s handy sometimes but certainly not required.
