It's been far too long since I posted an update, better do something about that!

New electrics have gone in. There used to be two double sockets, now there's 18, so plenty of outlets to plug tools into.
New roller shutter door went in, replacing the original "up and over" (or may be that should be "up and fall off runners") door.
And I've installed an air filter system.

The air filter system pumps 1100m3/hr of air through a G4 and F7 filter. F7 is 50% retention of greater than 1micron. But, the garage is 60m3 volume so the entire air volume is filtered in 3min 16seconds. Or 18 air changes per hour. I'm pretty chuffed with the degree of over engineering that went into the system, and a lot of 3D printing.

edited to correct the numbers, the garage is 2.8m x 2.4x x 6m, with a 45degree pitch roof, so that's 60m3 not 25m3. Doh, my maths really should be better than that.

I finished insulating the space by building a removable foam wall Infront of the steel roller door. The outside temperature has been down to -3c in December and a 500w heater kept the space at 15c. So I'm happy with that
I've also been working on storage solutions, building wall cabinets, tool tracks, rail storage etc.

Was the steel roller door a major source of air infiltration?

I like that everything is hung on cleats... I'm gonna have to do that for my garage.

I am still trying to figure out a set up in my new shop and I noticed your cutting station. Do you not miss access to the other long side? If its purely for breakdown only, I get it though.

Was the steel roller door a major source of air infiltration?

Yes it was. The steel roller door is not a typical "garage door" it's got no draft seals or insulation etc. In the 17years I've lived in the house I've only opened the garage door 4 or 5 times so I figured I'd seal it up. The inside "seal" can be taken down if I do need to open the door. The side door to the garage is positioned so I can carry 8x4 sheets in reasonably easily.

Do you not miss access to the other long side?

It's positioned there because of space and I've learnt to live with it.
It's 700mm high which means I can cross cut an 8x4 sheet, the lower height means I can lean over it.
The garage is just about wide enough for the 2545 rail, but I do have to crawl under it
I also kept the far wall clear of cabinets / shelves / etc so I can lean sheets against it to put scrap boards under the sheets.

I use the cutting station for everything. Breaking down 8x4 sheets, out feed table for the table saw, assembly etc. I can even stand on it to get stuff down from the roof space.
