Just wanted to post a few pics of why I still love my old nicad c12. This is the only drill I can imagine being able to do this task in the space allowed.

Pics aren't great, but its a c12 with the 90° attachment running a 4.25" hole saw in a cramped space.

Going through an old 2x8 rim joist to run a bathroom vent. Douglas fir.

well this alleviates any concern that the C15 cant bore a 1" hole using an auger bit.

That is an impressive hole for such a tiny drill, thanks for sharing :)

I mix mud with mine too when I forget my corded drill. It's got way more torque than my ti15 in drill mode.

Very impressive to see how some of you guys are using the C12.  I was thinking that the 20% additional torque of the C15 would be needed for day to day operation but based on what I see here so far, the C12 is more than capable.  In all honesty for the stuff I would use it for the CSX might be enough but I don't like that I cant use the battery on other tools if I decide to expand my festool lineup (currently non-existent) of battery powered products.

Could a standard cordless right angle drill have fit in there?
I don't think so. Most of the dedicated right angle drill bodies that I've seen would have been too long. It's tough to see in the pictures, but the c12 is right up against a floor joist on one side and a big plumbing pipe on the other. A standard cordless with a right angle attachment chucked up would have been too long as well.

[eek]  [blink] Wow!!! that is awesome! i wonder what the gear reduction is...If there was none then that is absolutely amazing.
