Cant help to feel that systainers aren´t for me

In the past I sold every systainer I ever had that came with a tool, people paid 5.00 to 10.00 less than they could of new, I never understood it, took the money though. I am blessed with 2800 sq foot shop and another 1800 sq foot storage building 100 feet from my home so I could use them, but I am a tool user that never leaves the shop so putting the tools in a box is just a waste of time for me. Back in the day I had a wall full of them like many here do, currently I am down to a measly 11 systainer and 6 open tool boxes.

Now I only keep the special anniversary cases and the cases that are a must, like for the router accessory kit, etc. I have purchased a few colored systainer for tools I only use occasionally as well, ie the orange case for the Fein. If I had the time and money I thought I might make a wall with pull out drawers to hold the systainers, I could see that.  But for people tight on space the systainer or any tool box robs space.

I have recently outfitted every station(6) in the shop with the Festool large open tool boxes with the Kaizen foam inserts.

For the most part though I get rid of them and it makes my tool purchase a bit less money. The Systainers are fairly weak, I feel my DeWalt and Bosch boxes are at least five to ten time stronger, but there is something about the Systainers that can become addicting.

i feel you, i frequent my tools in the garage and have no desire to store them away in the sys. i have about 10 of them stacked away on the top corner in the garage. they just take up massive valuable space anywhere else. altho they look great to have as a back drop in photos for ig.

Yep, exactly. The first time I felt one I thought: "you gotta be kidding me".

[size=13pt]In some Festool markets, some sanders are available in a carton. This recognises that some sanders live only in a shop or manufacturing environment. In Aust. for example; we can purchase the ETS150, ETS-EC150 and 125 and RO150 in a carton. The RO150 is also available with fixed as well as plug it cords.

Personally I like the Systainers as my tools are often used on house projects rather than always within the Untidy Shop.

100% road warrior here! Out on site Systainers seem to last 5 to 7 years, so take pity on a road wrrior and sell him your surplus Systainers.......

I'd love to know/see how you stow your tools then.
