Carvex and accessories in a SYS-2

I have a Carvex.  I bought the Carvex accessory kit to mainly get the trammel arm, the track base, and the adjustable base.  The kit comes in a SYS-2 with a ton of wasted space.

I removed all the stuff and the insert.  I ripped some ½" ply to 1-½" and made a super-simple grid in the bottom of the SYS-2.

Then, I just took the whole shebang out of the Carvex case and set it on top.  It all fits perfectly now in a SYS-2, saving a lot of space in the rig.  Also, I get to reuse the SYS-1 the Carvex came in for something else.

Here it is all packed-  the Bosch thing is a blade wallet I use to store the extra blades, and the trammel arm sits nicely on the side, with half of the base clipping between the Carvex insert and the case.

Funny just did the same thing not to long ago. Actually doing the same with more of the tools, using scrap to make simple dividers and putting the tool on top like df500 with dominos in the bottom,150/5 with sandpaper grit dividers. Works great in the field!

I really like consolidation.  Systainers are really great, but a lot of the Festools ship in containers that have too much wasted space (cleaning kit in a SYS-V is crazy once you remove the hose!)

My next mod is to move the Dominos and the Domino into a SYS-IV, I think.

I really would like a SYS that was extra-tall (20-24"/500-600mm) (SYS-6 and SYS-7?) so that I could transport things like my 2' level, longer Quick Clamps, etc.  I currently carry them in a MAXI, but it just messes up the stack, and I don't want to use Classics with the expansion rings because I like the TLOCS.

My name is Jimmy, and I.m a Sysaholic.  Admitting your problem is the first step...

I also did something similar recently. Combined my Makita 18v drill and impact driver which both came in seperate systainers in 1 systainer. Cut out padding from the foam they use in Pelicases (see google images)) and made a snug fit. Works like a charm!

Makita comes in Systainers in the EU?

I agree with the waste of space in the systainer.  I have managed to get a makita drill and impact driver a cxs and corded carvex with chargers , drill bits and spare jigsaw blades in 2 sys 1s and 1 sys 2 with attic lid , 1 less box to carry around.

In The Netherlands (also Germany also as far as I know) certain tools can be ordered in so called M-Boxes (see google images). Which are just rebranded tanos systainers with a Makita logo on them. Sadly however the old ones were based on the old model systainer and Makita just released 'new' M-Boxes...also based on the old systainers and no T-Lock :(

But yes most more upmarket Makita tools can be had in systainers here or you can just order the inlay for specific machines and put them in your systainer of choice. If you are looking for a inlay for a specific tool I can try and look if they have those over here if you want.

Hi Jimmy,

Great simple Ideas for the guys on the run! Your tool caddy is packed!, like the way the hammers are set up, great job!

Here's a couple of other ideas from the fog, that I had to steal (compressor with the drain on the outside)

Setting up the compressor so the side storage is for guns or co2 bottles.

next adventure is charging station for drills with iphone/speakers

will do Kaisen foam later for the sander and drill bit cases.

Thanks for the offer, much appreciated. At this point it's just very interesting to see the differences between the offerings in different countries, I never see systainers here except with Festool.

wow really nice idea… gets me thinking, like next time I need a sys 2 for storage I'll have a excuse to buy that kit lol
